Chapter 1: The Discovery
Ira and Dev found a big box of broken toys outside Mrs. Rao's gate one morning. A note taped to the box read: "Free to a good home. Please don't throw these away." Inside were a one-eared teddy bear, a wheel-less toy car, and a cracked doll. "These are all broken," Dev said, wrinkling his nose at the sad little pile. "They're not broken," Ira said thoughtfully. "They just need someone to fix them." She remembered the children's ward at the hospital where their mother worked as a nurse. "Mama said some kids there don't have any toys at all," Ira said, an idea forming. "We could fix these and give them away!" Dev said, suddenly excited. Ira smiled and picked up the one-eared teddy bear gently. "Let's get started."
Chapter 2: The Challenge
They spread the toys across the kitchen table, along with needle, thread, and old buttons. "This bear needs a new ear," Ira said, cutting a small circle from spare felt fabric. Dev carefully held the wheel-less car steady while Ira searched for a matching wheel. "I found one!" Dev shouted, holding up a wheel from an old broken truck. They worked all afternoon, stitching, gluing, and painting each toy with careful hands. The cracked doll's face needed the most work, with tiny paint strokes for new eyes. "My hand keeps shaking," Ira admitted, frowning at a wobbly paint line. Dev held her hand steady. "Take your time. We're not in a hurry." What do you think it takes to turn something old and broken into something new again? Slowly, one by one, each toy began looking whole and cheerful once more. By evening, the teddy bear had two matching ears, and the car rolled smoothly again.
Chapter 3: The Victory
The next weekend, Ira and Dev carried their restored toys to the hospital in a big basket. A little girl named Priya spotted the teddy bear first, her eyes lighting up brightly. "Is that for me?" she asked, reaching out gently toward the soft, repaired bear. "It's yours now," Ira said, placing it carefully into her arms.

Priya hugged the bear tightly, a huge smile spreading across her face. Down the hallway, a boy named Arjun cheered when he saw the shiny, fixed toy car. He rolled it happily across his hospital bed tray, laughing for the first time all week. Ira and Dev's mother watched from the doorway, tears of pride in her eyes. "You two did something wonderful today," she said, hugging them both close. On the way home, Dev asked, "Can we fix more toys next weekend?" Ira grinned. "Every single weekend, if we can." Have you ever given something old a new life, or seen someone else do it? And from that day on, no broken toy in their neighborhood stayed broken for long.
