The Cloud Shepherd's Gift

The Cloud Shepherd's Gift

High above the village where little Meera lived, there was a secret world that only children with very special eyes could see. It was the world of the Cloud Shepherds.

[EMOTION: dreamy] Every afternoon, Meera would lie on the soft grass and watch the fluffy white clouds drift across the blue sky.

[EMOTION: amazed] "Look!" she whispered to herself one day. "That cloud has a boy riding on it!"

And indeed, sitting cross-legged on a puffy cloud was a boy about her age, wearing clothes that sparkled like raindrops. His name was Baadal, and he was learning to be a Cloud Shepherd.

[SOUND: gentle wind whooshing]

Baadal guided his cloud lower and waved at Meera. "Hello! You can see me, can't you?"

[EMOTION: excited] "Yes! Are you really riding a cloud? How do you not fall through?"

[EMOTION: proud] "Cloud Shepherds have special shoes made from solidified rainbows, hard and shiny like colorful glass," Baadal explained, showing off his shimmering footwear. "We take care of all the clouds and make sure they bring rain to the right places."

[ACTION: "Can you blow a soft breeze from your mouth, just like the wind pushing the clouds? Whoosh!"]

Meera learned that Baadal had a very important job. He rode his wind horse Pawan across the sky, checking on clouds.

[EMOTION: worried] "But I'm having a big problem," Baadal sighed. "See that gray cloud over there? She's supposed to bring rain to Farmer Uncle's wheat field, but she's too sad to rain."

"Why is she sad?" Meera asked.

[EMOTION: gentle] "Because people have forgotten to say thank you for the rain. They complain when it rains on picnic days and forget that rain helps flowers grow."

Meera felt sorry for the sad cloud. She had an idea.

[EMOTION: determined] "What if I help people remember to be thankful for rain?"

That evening, Meera talked to everyone in her village. She told them how rain was actually a gift that helped their gardens grow.

The next morning, when the gray cloud started to sprinkle, something wonderful happened.

[EMOTION: grateful] "Thank you, cloud, for watering my tomatoes!" called out Mrs. Patel.

[EMOTION: happy] "Thank you for filling our pond for the ducks!" shouted the children from the park.

[SOUND: gentle rain pattering]

The gray cloud heard every thank you, and slowly, she began to shimmer and brighten. Her rain became the sweetest, most refreshing rain the village had ever experienced.

[EMOTION: joyful] "You did it!" Baadal called down to Meera as he rode past. "The cloud is happy again!"

As a thank you gift, Baadal let a small, personal cloud float down to Meera. It was soft as cotton candy, and followed her around like a loyal pet.

[EMOTION: magical] "This cloud will always remind you," said Baadal, "that when we take care of nature, nature takes care of us."

THE END

[PAUSE: Ask children - "How can we say thank you to nature? What gifts does nature give us every day?"]
